Progressive Broadcast Hire is a television facilities house based in Glasgow, whose doors first opened in January 2008 with cameras to hire. They provide the equipment to make TV shows, films, and adverts as well as managing live multi-camera events. Not only do they offer a comprehensive range of film and tv drama camera hire, they also service and repair client equipment from their in-house engineering department. Some of their most notable credits include the award winning Vigil & Karen Pirie, streamed on BBC and ITV respectively.
Before Rvvup
Progressive Broadcast Hire was using another provider for self-generated payment links on statements that connected directly to the payment provider’s platform, and to email payment links to customers to pay for hired equipment.
For the occasional in-person payment, Progressive Broadcast Hire were using a SumUp POS card machine and had started to use SumUp’s own payment links as it was easier to share them. They also generated a QR code onto invoices that allowed customers to enter their own payment amount, however, no information was provided about the customer whatsoever, therefore proving problematic for reconciliation.
Challenges
Progressive Broadcast Hire’s main challenge was having to guide customers through multiple options for payments, which were typically glitchy when used. They also struggled with the Opayo portal, which apparently has not improved in the 16+ years that they’ve been using it.
